Purpose of Human Creation
-
Vicegerency on Earth:
Humans were appointed as Allah’s vicegerents (khalifah) on Earth, entrusted with the responsibility to manage and maintain it with justice and righteousness. Allah says in the Quran:“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, ‘Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority [khalifah].'”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30) -
Manifestation of Free Will:
Like jinn, humans were given free will. However, humans possess unique intellectual and moral capacities, allowing them to choose between right and wrong. This freedom enables humans to demonstrate virtues such as patience, gratitude, and repentance. -
Test and Accountability:
The creation of humans serves as a test, where they are given the opportunity to prove their obedience and devotion to Allah. This life is a temporary trial, and the ultimate purpose is to worship Allah:“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
(Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)
Diversity in Creation
Allah’s creation of both humans and jinn showcases the diversity of His creation and the various ways His creatures can serve Him. Each species reflects different aspects of Allah’s power, wisdom, and creativity. Humans, with their physical and spiritual dimensions, embody a unique balance that complements the existence of jinn.
Divine Wisdom
The existence of humans, despite the prior creation of jinn, underscores Allah’s ultimate wisdom. It is a reminder that Allah’s knowledge and plan encompass purposes beyond human understanding.
